What is this procedure?

Transrectal or transperineal needle biopsy of the prostate gland to obtain tissue samples for histologic examination. Performed for elevated PSA levels, abnormal digital rectal examination, or suspicious findings on prostate MRI. Multiple core samples are obtained using ultrasound or MRI guidance.
